Below is Toni’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 25 pieces of her paintings.  We hope that you will take the time to read Toni’s information and to take a look at her creative and fascinating aerial-view paintings.

Artist Biography:

Born in Philadelphia, I studied painting at the Philadelphia College of Art and design and silkscreen printing at the School of Visual Arts. A Manhattan-based artist and graphic designer, my work is featured in private and corporate collections and has been in many exhibitions including solo shows in New York at the Studio Gallery in Chelsea, Adelante Gallery, James Beard Gallery, Rockefeller Gallery, Speakeasy Gallery, Blue Hill Plaza, Interchurch Center and National Arts Club. A selection of group shows includes Van der Plas, Gallery 440, Studio 5404 Art Space, Blue Mountain, Prince Street, Pen and Brush, Dacia Gallery, The Chelsea Art Museum. Also Kaller Fine Arts in Washington, DC and George Segal Gallery and Riverside Gallery in NJ.

Artist Statement:

My aerial-view paintings represent diverse places and spaces of the contemporary landscape seen from an aboveground perspective. The flattened surface planes convey the textures of abstract space enhanced by compositional aesthetics and skillful use of color. From the elevated position of high-rise buildings and helicopters, my images of cities and towns, factories and farmlands, power plants, suburban communities and highways are delivered with a distinctive angle on structures frequently taken for granted.

Through the aerial vantage point, one discovers a modern perspective and fresh visual vocabulary. The flattened plane reduces details to strong graphic images.

More than just a recording of the contemporary landscape, my paintings are my own interpretation of the essence of these scenes. They combine elements of abstraction and representation, pattern and grid, surface and illusion, as well as observation, imagination, and memory. Whether hovering high above city streets and highways, floating serenely over the countryside, or soaring above towns, harbors and monuments, they examine the relationship between man-made and natural, urban and rural, agrarian and industrial, power, labor and leisure. My work can be understood on many levels, from the simple interplay of shape and color to the narrative of the pictorial story.

NEW YORK, NY – August 18, 2015 - / Awarding winning Toni Silber-Delerive is one of 35 artists in a group show curated by Adriaan Van der Plas.

Toni Silber-Delerive lives and creates her art in New York City. She strives to let every colorful landscape form have its own integrity and meaning. In Red Intersections Quartered, the highways seen from above are the linear design element of the painting. Dissecting the image into four parts makes the roads even more abstract. She focuses on the aesthetics, shape and color of a composition. Using a modern aerial perspective she develops a dimensional visual vocabulary.

For the past 20 years, Adriaan Van Der Plas has been a conduit for artists whose work rises from the innermost human creative spirit – a vital and genuine sensibility found among the outsider and contemporary artists he represents.

Van der Plas Gallery is having a closing party for their Summer Salon 2015 exhibition on August 28th from 6-8PM. It is at Van der Plas Gallery, 156 Orchard Street, New York, NY 10002, (212) – 227 – 8983.  For more information: adovanderplas@gmail.com and www.vanderplasgallery.com

Toni Silber-Delerive’s Art at 440 GalleryBROOKLYN, NY – August 4, 2013 / - Toni Silber-Delerive is pleased to announce that her painting “Sushi” will be part of 440 Gallery’s Juried Exhibition. Twenty six artists working in a range of styles and media have been selected by Jennifer Coates, who has written reviews of art exhibits for publications such as Time Out New York, and Art in America. She has also taught in numerous art programs around the country.

This is 440 Gallery Gallery’s annual summer theme show “Food for Thought”, a national juried exhibition exploring food in all its manifestations. For many of the selected works the cliché "Starving Artist" has less to do with physical hunger and more to do with the disconnection between nourishment and the food we eat. The gallery’s exhibitions are frequently reviewed in the city and national press. Invitational art shows are a part of the gallery’s outreach to the artist community.

Toni’s painting “Sushi” shows her appreciation of unconventional views that come together in up-close, above-view paintings of food. While the colors and shapes of the sushi are traditional, the oversized proportions and graphic rendition seen from above make them unique.

This group art exhibit is at the 440 Gallery and their address is 440 Sixth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215. The exhibition will run from Thursday, August 21, through Saturday, September 13, 2014, with an opening reception on Thursday, August 21, from 6:00-9:00 PM.  For further information and hours, check their website. www.440gallery.com

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Toni Silber-Delerive is the gallery’s newest featured artist. Toni will now be featured in the gallery’s Artist Showcase for the next month.

Born in Philadelphia, Toni Silber-Delerive studied painting at the Philadelphia College of Art and graphic design at the School of Visual Arts. A Manhattan-based artist and graphic designer, her work is represented in private and corporate collections and has been in many exhibitions.

Toni's aerial-view paintings represent diverse places and spaces of the contemporary landscape seen from an above ground perspective. The flattened surface planes convey the textures of abstract space enhanced by compositional aesthetics and skillful use of color. From the elevated position of high-rise buildings and helicopters, her images of cities and towns, factories and farmlands, power plants, suburban communities and highways are delivered with a distinctive angle on structures frequently taken for granted. Whether hovering high above city streets and highways, floating serenely over the countryside, or soaring above towns, harbors and monuments, they examine the relationship between man-made and natural, urban and rural, agrarian and industrial, power, labor and leisure. Toni's work can be understood on many levels, from the simple interplay of shape and color to the narrative of the pictorial story.

Silber-Delerive's figurative paintings, many based on old family photographs, others from the present, offer a stylized impression of different periods and subjects. While tastes and fashions do change, the most basic of human needs, desires, and dreams are timeless, and her portraits strive to convey these eternal human yearnings. These paintings hint at stories about their subjects, but give viewers room to use their imagination.

Toni's appreciation of unconventional views and eternal human habits come together in her up-close, above-view paintings of food. While the colors and shapes are traditional, the oversized proportions painted from above display the subject in a way that is both original and recognizable.

Overall, Toni Silber-Delerive strives to blend a fresh perspective with a savvy demonstration of the power of color and composition. Toni’s website http://www.tonisart.com
