Art is something that is intensely personal. When I am creating a new art piece, I am putting a piece of my soul out there for all to see. I try to tell a story with my work - it's not enough to just create a "pretty picture." Art should make you think, make you wonder, make you feel something. It should be an experience, just as it is an experience for the artist to create that piece. That need to create, that desire to say what is in one's soul...that is what drives the artist.
I like to portray strong women in my work, women who look as though nothing will hold them back, that they can do the impossible. I know the joy of flying after having my own wings clipped for so long, and my dearest hope is to reach someone who takes that little spark of the imagination she sees in my work, turns it to her own life, and makes it just a bit better than it was yesterday.
