Below are Jeanne’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.
Jeanne Rhea has been involved in the arts throughout her life, and was a founding member of an arts cooperative in Anchorage, AK. She is the founder of the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild now in its eighteenth year.
Jeanne is inspired by nature, colors, patterns, fractals, photomicrography, life experiences, and the creative process itself. Using a variety of inks, she creates effects that are reminiscent of microorganisms, crystalline structures, mudflats, terraced earth, the cosmos, sea life, flowers, surrealistic landscapes, and more. These patterns and designs are dependent on many factors including the humidity, the temperature, the chemical and physical makeup of the inks, the viscosity of the inks, and the porosity of the substrate. Working wet on wet, in many ways, art meets science.
Jeanne is creating a new line of geometric paintings. Her ink paintings almost feel as if there is a loss of control with the paints and inks while her geometric paintings are the opposite. Every single mark, color, element is controlled to the point that it looks as if someone had to have made them with a computer and printed them out. They are Kandinsky-esque, but unlike his paintings, they are done in layers, and are 3D.
No prints are made of her paintings. They have a multi-dimensional quality. They capture the imagination and command attention with their unique patterns, designs, and vibrancy. After concentrating on commissioned work for the past five years, she is pursuing additional gallery representation and featured artist opportunities.
Jeanne Rhea’s work can be found in several countries and in almost every state in the US.
I approach my art like a kid in a candy store. My studio is where techniques are discovered, experiments are performed, problems are solved, art is shared, friends are made, and where self-discovery and magic happen. One could say my studio is part science lab, theater, sanctuary, therapist’s office, classroom, dance and music hall, her playground, and kingdom. The only thing my studio is not is a factory. I create a lot of art, but it is all unique and cannot be reproduced. Even with my wide range of art techniques, my signature style is obvious with each series that I create.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Diana Malivani has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.
Diana is an award-winning artist based in Cyprus. Diana was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 12th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.
Diana’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.
Below are Diana’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.
Diana Malivani, who by her training and profession, is a Doctor of Medicine (M.D., Ph.D.), is represented by well-known art galleries in the USA and UK. Her works regularly appear in prestigious exhibitions, are published in international art journals, offered for sale on leading online art market places (notably, on Artsy), and listed in the database of Artprice, the world leader in art market information.
The Artist’s creative journey began at birth: Diana was born on the coast of the Black Sea, bathed in the riotous profusion of the colors of the Caucasus. Her love as a child for fairy tales and pictures later developed into a desire to convey, to those hearing and viewing her work, the great feeling for nature, which enhances her life and the lives of those she loves.
Diana’s paintings reflect her soul, her love for music and nature, for an infinite variety of melodies and sounds, for shades and colors, for all that nature creates: the rustling of wet leaves and the first rays of dawn, the roar of the sea surf and the scent of a flowering meadow, the flight of screeching gulls and dewdrops on a blossoming rose. As she draws flowers and depicts landscapes (the principal themes of her artwork), deals with marine subjects, creates abstract compositions, and transfers music to canvas (one of the Artist’s main Art Projects bears the name «Seeing Music»), Diana strives to share these feelings with others, to share with others a part of her soul.
Diana Malivani is also the author and illustrator of children’s books published in Russian, English, French and German. After many years spent in Russia and France, she now lives with her family in Cyprus.
I am always in the mood to create: this happy inclination and impulse arise spontaneously within me and form an integral part of my life. Nature, for me, is the best source of new ideas. A walk along the Mediterranean coast, contemplation of the high crowns of the eucalyptus and palms against the background of the setting sun, and the boundless southern sky create the illusion that the surrounding world is inexhaustible and limitless: this is what fills me with energy and inspiration.
I believe that it is very important for a human being to be in harmony with self and nature. Only then is it possible to commune with all the beauty of the surrounding world, hear the murmur of the trees and flowers, be in touch with the music of waterfalls and torrential rain, and sense the breath of the sea and passing clouds.
The creative process, this special magical world in which I am submerged, is invariably accompanied by music, which has always occupied an important place in my life. Listening to classical and modern music, I am transported to a special realm where different images and pictures appear, sometimes just bright splashes of color responding to each other, which I then try to transfer to canvas.
My artworks reflect the images evoked in my soul as I listen to music. I believe that painting and music are interconnected by special deep inner ties; having the same foundation as the diverse manifestations of life. With my background in medicine, I am convinced that painting, like music, can heal spiritual wounds and help people find their own life paths.

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public. Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition; 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions. This was the tenth “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.
Below is Marti’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 25 of her mixed media collage paintings. We hope that you will take the time to read Marti’s information and to take a look at her unique and expressive mixed media paintings.
Marti White uses several mediums, but the art form that has most influenced her work and for which she is best known is mixed media/collage. This method and the style that she has developed was learned during a workshop with Gerald Brommer. His approach to building a piece has remained a key ingredient in the evolution of her art. Open spaces that draw the eye into and through a work are kept, and basic design elements are used to build the bones of the collage. The final use of line and color and the application of a series of small dots finish a piece. These key elements have established the style that sets her apart.
The artist is also fascinated with the way art can tell multiple stories. Each viewer sees what speaks to their own individual place in life and the artist is privileged to be able to allow that kind of visual journey through the work. Josh Goldberg, one of her mentors in abstract expression, said that a work of art is not completed until it has been viewed. She is most rewarded by seeing the viewer connect to that personal interpretation.
The artist has been mostly self-taught which has allowed her the freedom to find her own way. Beginning as an oil painter, then a watercolorist, then into mixed media and finally into collage and abstract acrylic painting, she has evolved from a representational artist into an abstract expressionist. She is always open to the challenges of improvement, asking the question “what if” and experimenting with new methods and materials.
Because she believes that her art should be seen, she actively pursues outlets to show her work. These efforts have often led her to volunteer with artists’ organizations. The many friendships she has made through this involvement with other artists continue to provide critical examination, encouragement, and affirmation for her efforts. She also enjoys teaching others what she has learned either in small group mini-workshops or sessions at her studio.
Marti views art making as an expression of the soul. Whatever she puts on her paper or canvas is coming from somewhere within, not usually through visual stimuli, but often from feelings of conflict or contentment.
Collage is the avenue that most often expresses the ideas in my work. It is a medium that lends itself to abstraction and spontaneity. The elements of design such as color, line, texture, and shape are all key aspects of a good collage.
My goal in any work is to tell a story that is evocative or mysterious and draws the viewer to find a meaning that is personal to them. The art expresses something of myself but is most successful when it makes that connection with the viewer. Beginning with a square substrate of either paper or board and papers with added colors or textures of my own creation, a collage begins to take form.
By arranging shapes on the surface and moving them about until a pleasing design is accomplished, a final art piece comes to life. Using acrylic mediums I attach the papers to the substrate. Then acrylic paint or ink, line work and some small dots of color are added to complete the collage. Marti’s website: www.artbymartiwhite.com
