Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that M. Lisa Ford has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Lisa is an award-winning artist based in Pennsylvania, USA. Lisa was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 17th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Lisa’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Lisa’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

M. Lisa Ford was born, raised and resides in the United States. Soon after receiving her BS in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University, Lisa began her 31 year teaching career in a Philadelphia suburb top-ranked school district in Pennsylvania. During this time she earned an MA in Art Education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, an MA in Theatre at Villanova University, and studied painting extensively at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Lisa performs and studies, ballet, flamenco and tango in various schools, theaters and studios. Now devoting most of her time to painting and travel, her interdisciplinary approach to life is evident in her work.

Ms. Ford’s paintings capture the beauty and essence of persons, places and things. Sometimes this plays out as more representational, other times more abstract. A blending of abstraction and realism, Lisa’s paintings elicit a “vibe,” an emotional response to the atmosphere of her subject. For the past few years M. Lisa Ford has been visiting, painting and exhibiting in France. In December/January 2020 she exhibited in the “Petite Formats” exhibition at Art et Miss In Paris. Ford’s painting ”Curtain Call” was recently excepted to the 2020 Salon d’Automne International Exposition in Paris for October which went virtual January 5, 2021.

Artist Statement

When I paint, my intention is to capture the beauty and essence of a person, place or thing. A blending of abstraction and realism, I respond emotionally to space, color, shape, line and light. On-site works in watercolor sometimes serve as inspiration in the studio for larger more conceptual pieces. The small scale watercolors capture the essence on site spontaneously. Using all my senses I respond to the light, sound, feel, and smell. I approach plein air oils in the same manner where an abstract quality of color, shape, and line create the space. An interdisciplinary merging of various art forms and cultures is present in my painting. The plein air landscapes capture the atmosphere, season and time of day using a painterly technique. These paintings may also serve for larger studio works where sometimes separate and different views or atmospheres are hard-edgily merged as one, creating a blend of painterly representation and abstraction. My approach to other subject matter is interdisciplinary and multicultural, using various art disciplines and cultures as inspiration in evoking their essence and spirit.

Artist Statement

I am an emerging talent whose methods and techniques are largely self-taught. Part of my time is spent outdoors taking in and capturing scenery, wildlife, and exploring other methods for interpreting and sharing what she sees and experiences along the way. I am deeply inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and Art Wolfe. Part of my work is also derived from my imagination. My greatest satisfaction comes from taking the file from the camera and into the computer to develop composites. The results reflect my personal feelings and beliefs, events, culture, etc., that are best expressed through artistic interpretations.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Audrey Kriss Berkowitz has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Audrey is an award-winning photographer based in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA. Audrey was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 16th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Audrey’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Audrey’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Audrey Kriss Berkowitz was born in Brooklyn, NY. She moved to Montgomery County, MD in 1987 and raised a family while having a successful banking career and returning to college. After the tragic death of her son in 2016, Audrey turned to photography to cope with her grief. When she relocated to the Wilmington, NC beach area and refocused her energy on what was important to her, she realized the beauty of nature brought her peace and serenity. She enrolled at the Cameron Art Museum for a few basic photography courses but is basically self-taught.

As a fine art photographer in the Wilmington, NC area, she has participated in juried art shows in North Carolina and throughout the United States. These shows include the Leland Art League Juried Exhibition, Wilmington Art Association Spring Online Juried Show, the Image ’19 show sponsored by Art in Bloom and Art Works, Silver Arts (as a ribbon winner), in addition to shows at Wilmington and Leland establishments. She has also been included in the Naples Art Association International Juried Show, the 311 Gallery in Raleigh and restaurant art exhibitions in Maryland.

Light, Space and Time Gallery has awarded Audrey recognition in several recent shows including the 10th Anniversary, Seascapes and Created in Isolation with Honorable Mention, Special Recognition and several place awards. Lunabelle Gift Shop and Katie's Frame in Leland carry Audrey's work in addition to Art Exposure in Hampstead. Her specialties are landscape and food photography.

Audrey often uses an artistic spin to her work in addition to the realistic capture of nature seen in her work. Audrey is a member of the Wilmington Art Association and Leland Art League.

Artist Statement

In 2017, I moved to Wilmington, NC to begin a new life after the death of my son. Photography afforded me the ability to look beyond my pain and see the beauty around me. North Carolina's beautiful landscapes gave me peace and serenity that was lacking in my life, and I wanted to transmit these feelings in my work. As a photographer, I feel I am a witness to the Earth's beauty and use my lens to capture the story in front of me.

Photography not only relays an image but also should leave the viewer with feelings. Landscape photography will often inspire feelings of awe, peace, serenity while portrait or street photography can convey a story and make us wonder about the lives of the individual in the photo. I enjoy challenges and although much of my work involves landscape photography, I have branched out and challenged myself with food photography and candid portraits or as I like to say "people photos" which give you some glimpse of the story behind the face.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Murray Ince has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and he will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Murray is an award-winning artist based in the United Kingdom. He was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 13th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified his art to be showcased in this feature.

Murray’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting his artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Murray’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Murray was born in Newport, Isle of Wight in 1957 where he enjoyed his school days and developed a love of drawing and painting very early on. After leaving school he became a furniture maker and gradually moved into design and manufacture. Murray took up painting seriously, though not full time in the early 1990’s and in 1996 did an A level Art and Design at the local college to gain experience of structured art learning. In 1997 Murray studied for a teaching qualification as he soon discovered a love of teaching people to draw and paint going on to become a lecturer in fine art at the Isle of Wight College. He went on to provide private tuition in his home studio, to demonstrate for art groups and now also tutors two art groups on the Island, The 5 Bells Art Group and the ‘John Finch Art Group’. Murray also leads for HF Holidays, running painting and drawing holidays all over Britain, France and Italy.

Murray’s first love is Landscape painting in Winsor and Newton’s ‘Artisan’ water-mixable oils and has written a book titled ‘Landscape Painting In ‘Artisan’ Water-Mixable Oils’ he is also a featured artist and product ambassador for Winsor and Newton and is a regular contributor of ‘How To’ paint articles for ‘Leisure Painter’ and the SAA’s ‘Paint’ magazines.

Murray regularly exhibits on the Isle of Wight and southern England and can be found painting in his studio in Totland Bay when not teaching away from home. He finds inspiration literally all around him on his beloved Isle of Wight, he says ”the next painting is always just around the corner and who knows, maybe one day a masterpiece”. Apart from ‘O’ and ‘A’ level art qualifications Murray is self taught and attributes his love of art and particularly landscape and seascape painting to his aunty Pat who was the first person to take him to a major art gallery, in this case the National Gallery in London and says that he was ‘blown away’ when viewing John Constable’s ‘Haywain’ and took art seriously from that point onward. Later in Murray’s career he was asked whether the Victorian artist Joseph Murray Ince RA was a relative or was it a coincidence, truth is he hadn’t heard of him but on checking the family history found that Joseph was indeed Murray’s four times great uncle and the name Murray had been passed down the line with Murray receiving it as his Christian name, however Murray maintains the view that anybody can learn to draw and paint!

Artist Statement

I have always loved the scenery of the great outdoors and living on a relatively small but beautiful Island is truly inspirational. Of course being surrounded by the sea is wonderful, with a never ending array of coastal views, harbour scenes and the ever changing mood of sea and sky there is truly no end of subject matter. We Islanders are also blessed with a huge diversity of landscape from ancient woodland and chalk down-land to salt marsh and everything in between. I endeavour to portray the natural world to the best of my ability hoping to give the viewer a sense of the beauty as I see it, both here on my Island home and in the world at large. I first saw John Constable’s ‘Haywain’ when I was just 11 years old, the sheer size and beauty of this painting and the portrayal of trees and sky in paint was awe inspiring to me and have loved both the landscape and landscape paintings ever since. I work mostly in oils as with this medium I seem to be able to convey at least a small amount of the affinity I have with the natural world whether it be landscape or seascape and am happiest and enthralled when creating at my easel.

Below are Lynden’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography:

When I was eight, I created my own paints from berries, vegetables and other available compounds, and would use leftover pieces of wood that my father had as my canvas. A teacher gave me art supplies a couple of years later, and I was thrilled to have actual paints.

I am a self-taught artist, and my main medium is oil on canvas. As a fourteen year old, I started teaching, and at one point had over 80 students from age seven to seventy five, and this provided the funds for better quality art materials.

Over the years, I have spent a lot of time in the woods, and bogs as they fascinate me for the strong colours and beautiful subjects they provide. When I paint, I use for the most part, triple zero brushes, as they lend themselves to fine details.

Artist Statement:

Having spent my childhood summers in rural Nova Scotia, I was drawn into the wild landscape and adapted accessible materials from berries to crushed shells to translate the scenes surrounding me.

Throughout the years, my fascination and interest in nature has grown and I strive to envelope the viewer with the feeling of inclusion in the mood and transformation of visual presentation, to finished artwork.  Her website is www.lyndencowan.com

Below are Julia’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography:

Julia Michry was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Her love for art and design started early and by the fourth grade, she was enrolled in an art school for gifted students. After graduating from high school, Julia studied at the Saint Petersburg Art and Industry Academy (MYXA), one of the country’s best art colleges. Continuing her studies when she came to America, Julia earned her BA in Graphic Design in just three years from New York’s School of Visual Arts. She worked as graphic designer in publications like Fortune, Saveur, Garden Design, Fitness, People, Rolling Stone and many more, winning over 25 awards in leading graphic design competitions.

As a graphic designer, Julia never gave up her true love of traditional art. Making the necessary time to hone in on her skills and desire to focus on painting. Her medium is watercolor, and while her work reflects a deep love of nature, it is also rooted in Julia’s Russian background. Julia’s use of colors and patterns is reflective of her heritage and adds another element to her paintings.

Artist Statement:

My favorite medium is watercolor. It is an unusual way that I use it though, with lots of details. I love I really like trees in the winter when you can see every branch, they are beautiful and elegant. I know a lot of people think of them as dead in the winter, but to me, they are sleeping and getting ready to bloom next spring. It’s all about beauty and promise.  Julia’s works can be found on this website is http://behance.net/michry
