Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Suzie Sullivan has been named as the Gallery’s new featured artist and she will now be promoted by the gallery for the next 14 days in the gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Suzie is an award-winning artist based in County Mayo, Ireland. Suzie was selected as 1 of the top twelve finalists in the gallery’s 19th Solo Art Exhibition Series. The placement in this competition qualified her art to be showcased in this feature.

Suzie’s Artist Showcase feature will be promoted to over 350+ major news outlets, with inclusion on Google News & Bing News. In addition, the gallery will also be featuring and promoting her artwork in the gallery’s various social media networks for further exposure.

Below are Suzie’s Artist Biography, Artist Statement and 5 images that were submitted to this competition.

Artist Biography

Suzie Sullivan's lifelong passion for art and craft work began as a child in the UK. Throughout her life she has always had hobby projects on the go but could only have dreamt where it would lead. She has always had a fascination for Ireland and moved there in 2001. She loves what Ireland has to offer - music, culture, ancient legends and fairy tales and the wide-open spaces - and all of this is reflected in her work. She is now known throughout Ireland and beyond for her work in fibre art, polymer clay and flame worked glass. She has won several prestigious awards for her art and craft and has participated in many exhibitions and shows. She has also shared her extensive knowledge with many students over the years. Suzie is a self-taught artist, preferring to work and experiment in the peace of her own studio tucked away in the beautiful wild landscape of the west of Ireland.

Artist Statement

Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Co Mayo, Ireland is a small studio where self-taught artist Suzie Sullivan spends her days creating art and craft. For many years Suzie has been better known as a textile artist working with wool and fibre, but in 2019 she changed direction and started working with polymer clay. This new material has opened a whole new world of texture and creativity. Her work represents a unique vision of an imaginary world of nature, capturing extravagant forms, colours and patterns derived from the natural world we live in. This latest body of small sculptures is titled ‘If you go Down to the Woods Today’. These sculptures are meticulously detailed and are intended to evoke dreams, childhood memories and the desire to escape to a world of one’s own making. They are made with a wire armature built up with layers of polymer clay and richly embellished with unique colour blends and complex polymer clay cane work.

Suzie’s art can be viewed on her Instagram.

Rawdon artist Geneviève Chaussé will exhibit her creation “Perfect Balance” at BORDERS - Venice International Art Fair 2021 during the collective exhibition Future Landscapes. This first participation is a door wide open to the multidisciplinary of the artist and the broadness of her imaginary world.

Geneviève is currently creating her first major body of work entitled “Bodies and Souls”. This piece of art “Perfect Balance” is the first in a series of 12 works in progress. Three are completed. This project is created from surrealist universes from an imagination where the mind and the heart meet. Art that aims to be visionary and symbolic where dreams, reality and feelings come together harmoniously.

Her works are initially juxtaposed by digital collage as a first draft. The process is instinctive and prevails in her current artistic approach. This provides her with the almost immediate realization which is ideal for not losing the spark, as she calls it. She enjoys the speed and ease of execution to remain true to the messages of hope and love that she receives and that she interprets.

Beginning with a meticulous drawing as faithful as possible, she then painted with watercolour and acrylic paint this universe that awaits her. Her formats are currently very small (8 x 8 inches) but she aspires to paint them in large formats (36 x 36 inches) and have them travel all over the globe.

Geneviève first received an invitation from the project coordinator since she did not know this organization at all and subsequently, the curator Luca Curci agreed to include the work she had submitted. Luca Curci is the founder and director of ITSLIQUID Group, a web-based information platform, founded in 2001, dedicated to the worldwide distribution of information about calls for entries, exhibitions and events at some of the world’s leading art galleries, museums and foundations selected.

The exhibition will take place at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space in Venice, Italy from August 30th to September 19th, 2021, located right next to St. Mark's Basilica, in the square of the same name. You can follow the event live on Facebook on Monday, August 30th, 2021 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm EDT by clicking here: https://www.facebook.com/events/837143347173891

The “Solo Art Series” is a series of monthly solo art exhibitions for established artists who have a body of work to present to the public.  Artist participants were asked to submit the following 3 components for the “Solo Art Series” competition: 1. Their art.  2. Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.  This was the 17th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Below are Nicole’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 20 of her digital art photographs.  We hope that you will take the time to read Nicole’s information and to take a look at her artwork.

Artist Biography:

Nicole Wilde was born in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up writing poetry and short stories, followed by song lyrics, some of which were put to music in the bands in which she played bass guitar. However, Nicole always felt California’s siren call of freedom and creativity.

In 1987, she moved to Los Angeles. Longing for a way to express her creativity in a visual format, she purchased a camera and began learning photography through books, online videos, and workshops. She expanded her knowledge of Photoshop in the same way and eventually combined the two disciplines, thereby finally finding her creative outlet in digital art.

Nicole’s other lifelong passion is animals. She has volunteered at rescues and shelters, photographed dogs to improve their chances of adoption, and co-ran a rescue sanctuary in California for wolves and wolfdogs, where three of the residents came home to live with her for ten years until their passing. She is also an avid bird-watcher. It was inevitable that Nicole’s love of animals and nature would find its way into her art. All images begin with one or more of her photographs, which are taken in natural settings, zoos, or sanctuaries. The photos are then combined, altered, or enhanced using equal parts Photoshop, creativity, and imagination to create a work of digital art. Nicole’s artwork has won international awards, been displayed in galleries, and been featured in magazines.

Nicole and her husband live in southern California with their two rescued northern breed dogs and boatloads of dog hair.

Artist Statement:

Animals. Nature. Emotion. Connection. These are the things that drive my passion to create art. My work is about the emotional life of animals, the interconnection of all beings, and the unseen magic that surrounds us all. Each piece begins with one or more of my photographs. By applying equal parts Photoshop and imagination, bit by bit an image is transformed into a fantastical universe, or an artistic portrait with deep texture and emotion. My hope is that my art touches the soul, stirs the emotions, increases our respect and appreciation for animals, and acts as a catalyst to reflect on the beauty and magic that is within us and all around us.

Below are Victoria’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 15 or her paintings.  We hope that you will take the time to read Victoria’s information and to take a look at her art.

Artist Biography:

Victoria Kitanov is an Australian Sydney-based artist & sculptor with a love of lifelong learning, a passion for portraiture, and a fascination with Australia’s maritime heritage. Her first marine paintings, The Boatman: Portrait of Gary Richardson (2016) and The Master Modeller: Portrait of David Glasson (2017) were inspired during this period. Both paintings debuted as part of the Naval Heritage Collection at the 2017 My State Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart, Tasmania. These artworks reappeared at the 2019 My State Australian Wooden Boat Festival, along with a selection of Victoria’s marine paintings which were carefully selected to compliment the display of built-to-scale boat replicas crafted by the ‘master modeller’ himself – David Glasson.

Victoria’s creative career commenced in commercial art & graphic design before moving into the publishing world as a children’s book illustrator in the early 1980s. During this period, Victoria was regularly invited to talk about illustration and entertain hundreds of schoolchildren for Children’s Book Week and other literary events. From 1990–97 Victoria was nominated as the approved re-illustrator of May Gibbs classic gumnut babies for Angus & Robertson Publishers, and during this period illustrated several books, including Ten Little Gumnuts, A Gumnuts Year, and a series of 6 smaller format books written in the classic Gibbs’ style.

By the late 1990s, Victoria left her career in illustration to continue tertiary studies in History with Honours at The University of Sydney, followed by a career as a Library and Information professional, and later the Australian Public Service in Canberra. From 2007-2016 Victoria was employed as Information Manager and Library Officer for Sea Power Centre – Australia, and from 2016-2019, provided archival skills with the Royal Australian Navy’s Heritage Collection in Sydney. However, the call to take the plunge was strong and Victoria launched her own creative business ENTRÉE TO ARTS PTY LIMITED, which aims to assist adult learners to tap into their innate creativity and wellbeing through the visual arts.

The other wing of Victoria’s business is VICTORIA KITANOV FINE ARTS, which has enabled Victoria to build an impressive portfolio by creating unique and original marine artworks with a focus on Australian maritime heritage and storytelling. Victoria is also an Exhibiting Member of the Australian Society of Marine Artists Incorporated. Artistic Inspiration: “Genre painting that tells a story or inspires one! I am inspired by the work of artists including Joaquin Sorolla, Edgar Degas, Henri Toulouse Lautrec, Anders Zorn, Elizabeth Vigee le Brun, and sculptors including Malvina Hoffman and Auguste Rodin.” Media Choice: I love the beauty and flow of watercolour and the light of pastels, but also work in oils and acrylics on occasion.

Artist Statement:

Once my nemesis watercolour has become my favourite in which to capture and convey the story I wish to tell. Equally, I adore pastel – occasionally underpainted with watercolour, for its ability to capture light, convey texture, and create atmosphere. Quite by chance and circumstance, I stumbled into the wonderful world of marine art and it is as if I was meant to be there all the time.

All the threads of my life: a fascination with people, with the art of storytelling and oral history, my roots in illustration, a love of lifelong learning, an abiding interest in history, an intrepid curiosity with exploration and travel, and a desire to understand the world around me, draws me to want to reveal and represent the flotsam and jetsam of our maritime heritage.

The workboats, the boat sheds and bridge works, our vanishing maritime industries, model boat makers, sailors, canine mascots, and all the random stories are engaging to me. In other words, of abiding interest is the storytelling aspect told through the medium of visual art, and with this is an urgent desire to honour and capture an impression before it recedes out of sight and into distant memory.

Their art.  2. Their artist biography.  3.  Their artist statement.  These elements were evaluated and judged, which resulted in the selection of the artists who will be featured in individual month-long solo art exhibitions.  This was the 12th “Solo Art Series” Art Competition that the gallery has conducted.

Below is Mira’s Artist Biography, her Artist Statement, along with 25 of her AlumixArt™ Mixed Media sculptures.  We hope that you will take the time to read Mira’s information and to take a look at her artwork.

Artist Biography

A decade ago Mira developed her own technique of sculpting she calls AlumixArt™ Mixed Media, which consists mostly of aluminum. Using this technique, she explores the area of modern spirituality. She challenges the viewers to connect with their potential of self-empowerment through art. Mira has a Masters in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland and an MBA from University of Strathclyde Glasgow, Scotland. Her artwork can be found in private collections in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Singapore and the United States.

Artist Statement

I believe in self-empowerment. I believe that what we see around us influences our mental attitude. I create sculptures as a tool for self-empowerment, and I call them "Artfirmations". I believe that seeing the Artfirmation sculpture daily at home or the office is like a repeated visual affirmation statement, in a beautiful piece of art.

Mira’s website is www.mirademartino.com.
